Walker's Coffee Shop & Pub

While Walker's isn't solely a coffeehouse, they still have some of the best coffee in Athens, and they are a very popular spot for students and residents of the area to sit down and enjoy a hot cup of joe. Walker's consistently describes themselves as a "Cafe by day, Bar by night", which gives the restaurant a great atmosphere. After paying a visit to Walker's I delved into their digital marketing efforts and noticed a few interesting things.



The first thing that I noticed in my initial search was that Walker's does not seem to have one consistent title across their digital channels. From their website to yelp, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, Walker's name varies from Walker's Pub and Coffee, Walker's Coffee and Pub, and Walker's Pub. Not only is this confusing to customers that search them online, but I'm sure it creates issues with their keyword search optimization. 





Walker's Facebook and Twitter accounts have identical posts apart from the fact that they also use their Facebook to post photos of their customers. As seen above from their Twitter feed, all of their posts are entirely promotional. As a customer this isn't necessarily the most intriguing content and does not encourage a response or any sort of interaction. I think this is a big cause for the lack of outside activity on these two accounts--without compelling content, customers are not inclined to comment, like, or retweet a business's posts. 



Walker's Instagram efforts are not sitting well with followers either. Of all of the social accounts of coffeehouses in Athens that I have analyzed, Walker's has by far the lowest response rate at an average of about thirty-five likes per Instagram post. The problem with their Instagram account is the same as it is on Facebook and Twitter--they lack compelling content. As Instagram is the platform for exciting imagery, and Walker's falls extremely short.

Although it is great that Walker's sentiment ratio shows that comments about the restaurant are positive, their reach is exceptionally small. With only three unique authors I think it is clear that Walker's Coffee Shop & Pub needs to make drastic changes to their accounts by creating interesting posts that will benefit and excite their customers while opening these accounts as a conversational platform for customers.
